And everywhere you see people with their little brooms and dust pans on a stick.Michaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09144455353601297801noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7607664488623696683.post-66396034292794143582011-09-26T16:16:07.723-07:002011-09-26T16:16:07.723-07:00How does one reach you? I am not in a financial position to be able to afford the Cuenca Chamber of Commerce's yearly membership with Welcome Packet, unfortunately. I live in Louisiana and am at a loss really, on the steps I need to take. I am still searching the Internet though :) I agree that Cuanca seems to be absolutely gorgeous, and I love the Spanish language anyway so I am going to brush off my meager College Spanish skills and learn it correctly before I come :) Any help is appreciated and thank you :)Jonnihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17349821123895407101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7607664488623696683.post-33275921998018923492011-07-29T16:24:02.831-07:002011-07-29T16:24:02.831-07:00Thank you, Joseph, for that kind compliment. I've been researching and reading & reading & reading all about Ecuador for almost a year now.

I will finally be traveling to Cuenca in late September for a 6 month 'trial' period to see if the city and myself are compatible. I'm a sigle retired gentleman who has lived in many States here in the U.S. I've lived some yrs. in KY, so I know what 'laid back' means. And the spoken word might as well have been Spanish, as a lot of it was very hard to understand.

I've read a lot of negative things by some sad souls in the forums and blogs, that you describe from a different and more 'sincere' point-of-view. I prefer yours.

I look forward to reading more of your writings as I prepare for my trip.

God Bless.

JosephAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7607664488623696683.post-79457485411251352362011-07-24T04:46:56.705-07:002011-07-24T04:46:56.705-07:00Thanks to each of you for the comments! I taught assertiveness for years and find it is just as important for travelers and aging boomers today as it was for teens when I was in private practice. I take your comment as a compliment.

Tania - thanks for your comments too. I hope you will visit here. There is a slightly slower pace that you and Noah would like, I think. Not sure about Lily and Chris. Do not wander along looking vulnerable and lost. Take note of your surroundings. LOOK at what is happening around you, be aware of the "tone" of an area---
I am going to use your quote in my blog, I hope you don't mind. With the quote,I will give link to your blog.
Liliya Bykova
http://dayinquito.blogspot.com/
http://quitorental.blogspot.com/Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
